Overseer supports a single, optional Specialist password as an alternative access password to Overseer LAN or Overseer Grades for subject area specialists, supply teachers and others who may need occasional access to either of these applications.
This password must be assigned and managed by office staff via Overseer Admin.
Normally, teachers only have access to Overseer student information for those students in their home room classes, or in classes for which they teach at least one subject area or subject component.
The Specialist password grants access to student information via Overseer LAN for all students in the school. It could be useful for a subject area specialist, a resource teacher, a librarian, vice-principal, computer support personnel etc. It could also be used by a temporary supply teacher rather than asking regular teachers to share their passwords.
In addition, the Specialist password will grant access to any teacher’s Grades database via Overseer Grades. This could be useful for a supply teacher, vice-principal, principal or computer support personnel. As is the case for teacher’s passwords, the active Specialist password which can be used to access a Grades database for a given term is the one which was in effect at the time the Grades database was last created or synchronized for that term.
