New Features and Bug Fixes in
Overseer Version 1.700
The following are feature changes which were implemented in Overseer 1.7.
- Overseer lists are no longer case-sensitive. This means that surnames starting with a lower case letter will not be placed at the end of a list of students, families, adults etc.
- Overseer now supports the new Ontario Education Numbers (OEN) for recording student numbers as a user-defined preference. When this option is enabled, OENs are validated as they are entered, based on their known format and the algorithm for the OEN check-digit. Schools must independently obtain their OENs from the Ministry of Education.
- The Custody field, indicating a custodial parent for a child, has been modified for clarity of use. All parents in a nuclear family will be assigned custody by default. Otherwise, the custodial status of an adult over a child must be manually designated.
- The Custodial and Emergenecy Contact status of adults is now clearly designated as Yes(‘Y') or No (‘N'), removing the ambiguity of blank fields as previously displayed.
- All phone and fax number fields have been increased to 20 characters in length to accommodate business extensions. Also, a new Other # field has been created (for adults) to accommodate an additional pager, cell, mobile or alternate phone number.
The following bug in Overseer 1.603 was fixed in version 1.700.
- A bug was introduced in a recent upgrade to Overseer Admin 1.6 which prevented the creation of new marking schemes for use within Overseer Grades. This was resolved in Overseer Admin 1.7.
Overseer LAN was updated to version 1.700 to reflect the above changes. A few minor changes were also made to Overseer Grades.
